Ket, stidljiva mlada žena, sprijateljuje se sa Bobom, povučenim baštovanom u primorskom hotelu u kojem ona treba da se venča. Ket se nikada nije pomirila sa činjenicom da je njena majka otišla od kuće kada je Ket imala osam godina, a njen autoritativni otac, Ken, nikada ne govori o majci. Ket se sada udaje samo da bi pobegla, a njen verenik, Stiv, takođe je pod kontrolom njenog oca. Bob je nežni ekscentrik sa smislom za humor i problematičnom prošlošću. Ket pronalazi zajedničke crte sa nerazrešenom vezom iz Bobove prošlosti, sa devojkom po imenu Luiz. Ova veza je na Bobu ostavila toliko jake posledice, da on mora da napusti hotel i suoči se sa svojom prošlošću. Istovremeno, Ket shvata da je njen brak velika greška. Na dan venčanja, Ket beži u očevim kolima, slučajno kindnapujući Boba. Njih dvoje zajedno kreću na emotivno putovanje prepuno tragikomičnih obrta.
